The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Newark, New Jersey, for the first time in a year this weekend for its sixth event of 2024, UFC 302: Makhachev vs. Poirier, the highlight of the world championship bout.
In one of the most anticipated bouts of the year, UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will take on fourth-ranked contender Dustin Poirier in the UFC 302 main event.
On the other hand, two of the most decorated UFC athletes will face off in the co-main event when No. 1 ranked middleweight Shawn Strickland faces No. 7 Paulo Costa.
The main card features a welterweight contest featuring fan favorite Kevin Holland taking on knockout specialist Michal Oleksiezuk, followed by Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) contract winner and current No. 7 ranked UFC heavyweight Zelton Almeida taking on the No. 13 ranked contender. Will be from Alexander Romanov.
Welterweights Randy Brown and Eliseu dos Santos will open the main card, while undefeated middleweight Cesar Almeida will look to add to his perfect record by defeating Roman Kopylov to close the preliminary card.
The preliminaries will also feature an action-packed lightweight bout featuring DWCS contract winner Grant Dawson, who will take on Joe Solecki at 170 pounds following a clash between Phil Rowe and Jake Matthews.
Additionally, all-action welterweights Nico Price and Alex Morono will look to keep it out of the judges’ hands in the preliminary card opener, as New Jersey’s own Mickey Gall heads to the Octagon to take on Basil Hafez at welterweight to close out the preliminary card. Will return in.
