BARI, Italy, June 12 (Reuters) – The heads of U.S. corporate heavyweights Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab and BlackRock (BLK.N), opens new tab are expected to attend talks on infrastructure development during the Group of Seven (G7) summit in southern Italy on Thursday, two sources familiar with the matter said.
Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, and Larry Fink, his counterpart at asset manager BlackRock, will be joined by Italian business figures including the heads of energy group Eni (ENI.MI), opens new tab, utility Enel (ENEI.MI), opens new tab and state investment group CDP.They will take part in talks on the G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment to be held at the Borgo Egnazia venue on Thursday afternoon.The session is expected to focus on development in Africa, one of the key themes of the June 13-15 summit of G7 leaders hosted by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. BlackRock declined to comment, while Microsoft was not immediately available for comment.

When is the G7 summit in Italy?
The G7 Summit June 13-15 in Borgo Egnazia, in Apulia, which is the 7th G7 summit held in Italy, will bring the leaders of seven member states together, the European Council President Charles Michel and the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, which represents the European Union.

The G7 summit hosted by this year’s Italian G7 presidency is taking place in Borgo Egnazia, Apulia, Italy.

The EU as a G7 member
In 1977, representatives of the then European Community participated in the London summit. Originally, the role of the EU was limited to those areas in which it had exclusive competences, but this role has expanded over time.
The EU has gradually been included in all political discussions on the summit agenda and, since the Ottawa summit (1981), has taken part in all summit working sessions.
The EU has all the responsibilities of membership. The summit communiqu is politically binding on all G7 members.
The presidency has rotated as follows: Canada in 2018, France in 2019, the USA in 2020, the United Kingdom in 2021, Germany in 2022, Japan in 2023, and Italy in 2024.
