A new book by veteran Watergate reporter Bob Woodward says Donald Trump secretly sent coveted Covid-19 testing machines to Vladimir Putin for personal use when they were in short supply, a claim angrily dismissed by the Trump campaign.

Trump Secretly

The book – titled War- also includes a claim that Trump secretly has stayed in touch with Putin since leaving office, according to excerpts cited by US media.

The Trump campaign said none of these “made-up stories” were true.

“President Trump gave him absolutely no access for this trash book that either belongs in the bargain bin of the fiction section of a discount bookstore or used as toilet tissue,” said Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung in a statement to the fact and us.

A new book makes a startling claim that former President Donald Trump secretly sent a Covid-19 testing machine to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the height of the pandemic, even as the United States was facing critical shortages of testing supplies. The book alleges this covert transfer took place during the early months of the pandemic, when securing adequate testing was a top priority for the U.S. healthcare system.

According to the book, Trump’s decision to send the testing equipment was kept out of the public eye, with few officials being aware of the exchange. At the time, the U.S. was grappling with a severe lack of testing capabilities, which slowed efforts to contain the virus. The claims raise new questions about Trump’s relationship with Putin, which had already been a controversial topic throughout his presidency.

The book does not specify why Trump allegedly made this move, nor whether any formal or informal agreement was made with the Russian government in return. The White House and Trump representatives have yet to respond to these accusations, while health officials from that period have also remained silent.

Trump Secretly

Critics argue that if the claims are true, the decision could have had significant consequences for public health in the U.S., as every testing machine was desperately needed to combat the spread of the virus domestically. On the other hand, Trump’s allies might argue that maintaining diplomatic relations with key global players like Russia could have been an equally important consideration during a time of global crisis.

The book’s revelations are sure to reignite debate over Trump’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has been heavily scrutinized. Many have criticized his administration’s slow response and the lack of sufficient testing and personal protective equipment in the early months of the outbreak. Whether this new allegation will lead to further investigations or official statements remains to be seen, but it certainly adds a new layer to the complex and controversial legacy of Trump’s presidency.
